As year 2007 comes to an end, a bright new year awaits.
Officially announced to be the assistant platoon sergeant and guard commander, but still harbouring thoughts of just becoming an ordinary specialist. Dilemma, deep dilemma indeed - caught in between officers and man. You do not whether a person talking to you right now is a friend that will give full support, or a foe that keeps giving trouble. Difficult position to be, but to most, it seems to be a slack job. No rifle, rounds, SBO/LBV and most importantly in their sense, no duty.
Yes, sea soldiers do have an important role of guarding the base and standing for long hours to uphold the security is inevitable. What they see are only the pros of guard commander, but they yet to see and fully understand what actually are the cons. I was once a man, it was short-sighted for me to only see the pros of specialists/officers. Hence, I regretted to put YES to become a commander in tekong. Now, suffering the mistake of my choice.
According to Taiji, 有阴必有阳, there's bound to be pros and cons, just like a coin have 2 opposite sides. Think of the brighter side, it builds up my leadership and command and control and perhaps even my career in the future. Though the remaining 1 year of my NSF life will be pretty busy as compared to other sea soldiers, it will be meaningful.
Finally, why platoon 2 rocks ? Because we are not platoon 1! Hahaha.

A very very long time since I blogged.
151207, a significant day as it marks 1 more year left in NS.
Had been quite busy in camp. Ever since pass out from tekong, posted as sea soldier infantry leader. Miss the good old times of playing, sleeping, slacking and talk cock at night. Life sucks big time as a sea soldier trainee. Forever angry sergeants tekan trainees and strict regimental rules to follow, its like the lowest life form for the 3 months course.
Pass out from trainee course and went for leaders course. Better treatment than before. I would consider the best time of any sea soldier would be.
Graduated, now doing duty at Changi - guarding both land and sea. With insufficient manpower, 7 days duty straight was implemented. Definitely more tough than a normal RP's schedule is. For mental and physical stress to be carried on for 7 days, I think the sea soldiers are doing a great job.
For now, my biggest fear of becoming a guard commander has come true. It also covers the role of a platoon sergeant(2nd sergeant). Though no rifle and rounds, its a great challenge to be the one overall in charge of controlling the ops. After dismounting, you still need to take charge of the whole platoon.
I'm from the 12th SSC batch and I will protect my batch guys in time to come when I obtain more power like Jiang Hua. For me, my own batch guys are my priorities since we went through hard times together. Unfortunately, sometimes my own batch people disappoint me.
Guo Quan, someone who always try ways and means to slack for every single moment possible. Even when he sees someone more hardworking, instead of being positively influenced, he wants me to scold those hardworking ones for making him look bad. He should be glad enough that I caught him slacking and didn't scold him + give him a slack station to man. Selfish arse.
Wei Long, my own JC classmate, sometimes I don't even know how he thinks. Got feedbacks from seniors in my platoon that he almost vomitted blood when teaching Wei Long during OJT. Haiz. Got one incident when one of my classmate send him a msg regarding our physics teacher wedding. He knows about it but I held no information about that. So I just asked him why only he know. To my biggest shock ever, he sms to ask that classmate(whom informed him) why wasn't I informed. Gosh. If he weren't my classmate, he's a long goner with all the stunts he did during duty.
As more and more responsibilities are passed down to me from the ORDing platoon sergeant, free leisure time gets shorter and shorter. Long posts like this gets shorter too. Perharps, my next post will be 2 weeks later when I'm back home during weekend. Till then, take care.
P.S Platoon 2 rocks!
