As year 2007 comes to an end, a bright new year awaits.
Officially announced to be the assistant platoon sergeant and guard commander, but still harbouring thoughts of just becoming an ordinary specialist. Dilemma, deep dilemma indeed - caught in between officers and man. You do not whether a person talking to you right now is a friend that will give full support, or a foe that keeps giving trouble. Difficult position to be, but to most, it seems to be a slack job. No rifle, rounds, SBO/LBV and most importantly in their sense, no duty.
Yes, sea soldiers do have an important role of guarding the base and standing for long hours to uphold the security is inevitable. What they see are only the pros of guard commander, but they yet to see and fully understand what actually are the cons. I was once a man, it was short-sighted for me to only see the pros of specialists/officers. Hence, I regretted to put YES to become a commander in tekong. Now, suffering the mistake of my choice.
According to Taiji, 有阴必有阳, there's bound to be pros and cons, just like a coin have 2 opposite sides. Think of the brighter side, it builds up my leadership and command and control and perhaps even my career in the future. Though the remaining 1 year of my NSF life will be pretty busy as compared to other sea soldiers, it will be meaningful.
Finally, why platoon 2 rocks ? Because we are not platoon 1! Hahaha.
